In 3D printing, a sidewall support (also known as a “support wall” or “stabilizing structure”) is a support structure used to improve the quality and success of the printed part.
No. | Parameter Name | Parameter Meaning | Diagram |
1 | Start | The starting point of the sidewall support, which can be changed by dragging and dropping the starting point icon.
2 | End | The end point of the sidewall support, which can be changed by dragging and dropping the end point icon.
3 | Number | The number of sidewall supports, must be an integer.
4 | Spacing | The spacing between the sidewall supports.
5 | Height | The height of the sidewall support, not allowed to exceed the lowest and highest points of the model.
6 | Depth | The outermost distance of a sidewall support from the selected model plane.
7 | Thickness | The wall thickness of the sidewall support, which is an integer multiple of the outer wall line width, is automatically adjusted to an integer multiple when entered as a non-integer multiple.
8 | Pad Height | The height of the pad of the sidewall support, used to enhance the stability of the sidewall. The value of the thickness needs to satisfy the initial layer height + N* layer height to meet the printing requirements, when entered as an illegal value it will automatically adjust to the nearest value nearby.
9 | Lateral Clearance | The spacing between the sidewall support wall and the model surface.
10 | Joint Penetration Length | The length of the sidewall support wall nail that extends into the model; when the value = 0, the wall nail is tangent to the model.
11 | Joint Interval | The spacing between the joint of the sidewall support wall.
12 | Joint Start Height | The height of the bottom of the sidewall support wall joint from the printing platform. The value of the height needs to satisfy the initial layer height + N*Layer Height in order to meet the printing requirements, and will be automatically adjusted to the nearest value when entered as an illegal value.
13 | Joint Height | The height of the sidewall support joint, the value of the height needs to meet the height of the N layer height to meet the printing needs, when entered as an illegal value will automatically adjust to the nearest value nearby. |
You can set the printhead of the sidewall support by selecting the sidewall support in the preparation environment;
If you update the outer wall line width, layer height, and initial layer height parameters in the process parameters after generating a sidewall support, it will affect the modeling of the stabilized wall, and a pop-up window will remind you whether to generate a new stabilized wall again when editing it for the second time.
